Post-doc – Scripta Qumranica Electronica

A joint DIP/DFG project between Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, the University of Haifa, Tel Aviv University, and the Israel Antiquities Authority.

The goal of the Scripta Qumranica Electronica project is a new web-based platform for interacting with the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the publication of several exemplary digital editions.

My role within the project is to produce a digital edition of 4Q51, the large Samuel scroll from cave 4.  I also work to facilitate communication between the member groups of the project and to offer any assistance I can to move the project forward to its completion.  In that capacity I have been doing a lot of work on web-programming, and have made contributions to the code for our website (mainly Javascript browser side, and Perl scripts server side) as well as some of the database design and population (we use the MySQL fork MariaDB).
